Bringing you the latest news on The Path from the week of 4/1 to 4/5 and beyond.
Reinforcements
Toranaga may have been betrayed by his snake-ass brother Saeki Nobutatsu in episode 7 of Shogun, but The Path has made a better choice of allies. We are happy to welcome Olivia Snyder, our translator for all episode reviews of Shogun, back to our ranks as a full-time member to produce original and translated content. Olivia was previously co-editor of The Path‘s former spin-off site The Second Stylus from 2020-2021.
Words of War
This week The Path presented Olivia’s catch-up translation of Shogun episode 2, along with Benjamin’s English recap and review of episode 7. Olivia’s translation of his episode 7 piece should follow this Saturday or Sunday depending on time zone. Meanwhile, Frankie wrote a piece on the politics of oil and Spice as a metaphor for oil in Dune, one of several pieces she’s written on Dune recently. Luis meanwhile is busy carrying out work re-upping the site. Read his most recent article on the development of CD Projekt Red as a studio from The Witcher to Cyberpunk 2077 here.
Coming Soon
Expect more great content on Shogun from Ben and Olivia through 4/26. On 4/12, Fallout premieres, and Luis will be reviewing it in five segments, with reviews of two episodes a piece plus one overall judgement. In May, The Path has tentative plans to do a deep-dive into Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and in June/July we will be devoting the bulk of our coverage to House of the Dragon season 2, with Luis and Olivia taking point.
