This December, CD Projekt Red has delivered an early Christmas gift to fans that’s sure to keep the gaming community buzzing well into the new year. From the stunning reveal of The Witcher 4 at The Game Awards to exciting developments across both the Cyberpunk and Witcher universes, we are being spoiled with exciting developments across its flagship franchises.
Cyberpunk 2077: A Movie in the Making?

Let’s start with Cyberpunk 2077, a game that has experienced one of the most remarkable redemption arcs in recent gaming history.
In a recent interview, Idris Elba expressed enthusiasm about a potential live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie, particularly the prospect of working alongside Keanu Reeves. “I think if any film could do a live-action rendition, it could be [Cyberpunk 2077], and I think his character and my character together would be, ‘Whoa’,” Elba told Screen Rant.
While I’m not sure how that would work, considering Johnny can only be perceived by V and Songbird, it’s still an intriguing idea that’s worth exploring. I will say, the future looks bright for Cyberpunk. A new game is already in development, with a Boston-based team leading the project. Interestingly enough, the studio is considering adding multiplayer elements to the game that were previously scrapped, which, if done right, could elevate the next game to new heights beyond what Cyberpunk 2077 was able to ultimately accomplish.
The Witcher Comes to Life: A Symphony of Gaming Memories
Meanwhile, The Witcher franchise is preparing for its own celebration. CD Projekt Red has announced The Witcher in Concert, a spectacular tour commemorating the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Next year, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we’ll be going on a concert tour together with @percival_band featuring an innovative blend of cutting-edge visuals & gameplay alongside the original soundtrack.… pic.twitter.com/DrLpM1pLb6
The concert will feature tracks from the base game and its beloved expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. Masterminded by the game’s original composer Marcin Przybyłowicz, the tour will kick off next year with initial shows planned in Poland and Boston, Massachusetts.
Fans can expect an immersive experience that combines live music with cutting-edge visuals and gameplay footage. The legendary Polish folk metal band Percival, which originally co-composed the game’s soundtrack, will also participate.
Gwent Goes Physical: A Decade-Long Fan Dream Realized

But that’s not all for Witcher fans. As Polygon reports, Hachette Boardgames and No Loading Games are bringing the beloved in-game card game Gwent to life with a physical release. The set will include 400 cards, a playmat, and rule sets for both casual and tournament play. Set to launch in the third quarter of 2025, this $39.99 release has been a decade in the making.
“Gwent is the biggest ‘game within a game’ in media history,” said Rob Trounce, Hachette Boardgames’ marketing manager. This will be a must-have for both Witcher enthusiasts and competitive card game players.
What’s Next?
With new Witcher and Cyberpunk games in development, a concert tour, a physical Gwent release, and a potential movie down the road, it’s an exciting time to be a fan of these franchises – and that’s not even taking into consideration the soon to be released animated Witcher movie and Season 4 of the Netflix’s The Witcher.
Whether you’re a Cyberpunk enthusiast, Witcher fan, or gaming music lover, 2025 is shaping up to be a thrilling year of entertainment. And I can’t wait for it!
