Update on Coverage of Shogun and Fallout
The Path continues its coverage of Shogun through the end of March and April! For the duration of our coverage of Shogun, we’ve recruited former The Path writer Olivia Snyder to write pieces on the overseas reception of Shogun and translate Benjamin’s episode reviews into Japanese, with one new review for the current episode and one catch-up review released each week. Read them in both languages here. Next month, Luis will start coverage of Amazon Prime’s new Fallout series with reviews and analysis. Meanwhile, Frankie continues her deep-dive into Dune.
Updates on Scheduling and Tech
We will now release weekly news updates on the current and following week’s content each Thursday or Friday.
The Path is in the midst of a major redesign to increase the aesthetic, navigability, and professionalism of our site. Special thanks to Luis for his tireless work as web designer and expect everything to be even better laid out in just a few days.
This will include new pages organizing major franchises we’ve covered in depth, such as Shogun, The Last of Us, and Lord of the Rings, for ease of navigability and an optimal reading experience.
What is this “Legacy Content” Thing I’m Seeing?
A: Before Summer 2022, The Path had no Standard Operating Procedure around posting, and a practice developed of posting contributors’ works directly from the Editor’s WP account and crediting the individual writer in the article. Over the years this created confusion, and it was abolished in August 2022. We have now gone through these old posts and marked them as Legacy Content/Former Writers. The individual authors remain credited except in cases where attribution was uncertain or anonymous. Thus at this point, all posts not written by Frankie, Benjamin, Luis, or Olivia are filed under that authorship.
Benjamin Rose is a poet from Washington D.C. and the author of Elegy For My Youth (2023) and Dust Is Over All (2024). He studied English at the Catholic University of America and is the winner of the 2023 O’Hagan Poetry Prize. From 2019 he has edited The Path. Buy his books here.
